Bertrand GELLIE was born on 1951. He is a French citizen and graduated in 1973 as a Chemical Engineer ENSCS in Strasbourg. He started working as a Patent Attorney in 1974 in a middle size company in Paris and graduated from CEIPI in 1980. He qualified as a French Patent Agent and European Patent Attorney in 1980 and 1981, respectively. He joined the European Patent Office in 1982 where he acted as an Examiner in the Pharmaceutical Field, before working several years with the Directorate "Patent Law" and later with Directorate "Harmonisation & Quality". He was nominated as a director in 1996 in 2.1.07 "Pharmacy" and took over directorate 2.1.01"Organic Chemistry" in 2003. He was involved in several cases which created case law in the field of Pharmacy.
